🧑‍⚖️ Court Check for Directors & Related Entities

Whenever a new Director or Entity is added to the addy platform, the BC Courts database is searched for any civil or criminal legal matters (excluding traffic-related cases). Any matches found are presented for your review.

This feature helps bring more transparency to who's involved in a property offering — but it’s important to know that no analysis or recommendations are provided. It’s up to you to interpret what the information means for your decision-making.

âś… What this feature does

This is an automated search tool that looks for legal activity connected to individuals and entities associated with a property raise. Specifically:

  • The BC Courts database is queried for civil and criminal cases

  • Traffic-related matters are excluded

  • Any matches are shown in raw form — no filters, edits, or commentary

This includes:

  • Lawsuits

  • Foreclosures

  • Criminal charges or convictions

  • Contract or partnership disputes

  • Other civil or criminal court actions

No action is needed on your end to trigger this search. It runs automatically in the background as part of the platform’s data-gathering process.

🔗 What’s a “related entity”?

A related entity refers to another company or legal structure that owns a share of the entity receiving investment, either directly or indirectly.

These relationships aren’t stored in the system by default. Instead, they’re identified through legal and corporate documents, such as:

  • Property Title

  • Limited Partnership Agreements

  • Shareholders’ Agreements

  • The Central Securities Registry (CSR)

  • Other corporate records that outline ownership structures

Once a related entity is identified through document review, it is also included in the legal search.

🔄 When this search happens

The BC Courts database is automatically searched at the time that an issuance is assessed for being ready to raise funds.

Any matches are presented without interpretation or judgment. They are simply shown for you to assess as part of your broader due diligence.

đź“„ What to do with the results

Any legal cases that appear are surfaced as-is, directly from the court record.

Important notes:

  • addy does not interpret or verify the legal data

  • No advice or recommendation is made about what the information means

  • No decision is made on your behalf

You’re responsible for deciding how (or whether) this information impacts your investment decision.

This feature is designed to offer transparency — not conclusions.
