How long am I bound to my shares?

An explanation of term length of owning shares.

Summary

You are bound to your shares for the entire term until an event is to occur, such as an exit. However, on the majority of alternative equity deals, there is no specific time on when the shares will be redeemed. You have to understand the rules of your share purchase to determine the estimated term.

Estimated Terms

Each issuance has it's own estimated term, this can be found in the Offering Document of the specific deal. Terms are estimated and not guaranteed, each issuance is different and it is important to review before making your purchase. You are bound to your shares during the entire term.

For example; Altadore Townhomes has an estimated term of 8 years as stated in the Offering Document Item 3.1, paragraph 6.

Then how do I get rid of my shares before the end of the term?

The most straightforward way to remove yourself from any shares you have purchased is to sell and transfer to a new purchaser, until that point you are bound to your shares.
