Information for will executors

What to do if you represent a deceased addy member

If you are a will executor for a deceased addy member, please follow the below to get the process of disclosure started.

Please contact support@addyinvest.com to advise us of the situation, and that you are the will executor. addy recognizes how difficult this time can be and we will do everything in our power to handle the situation quickly and respectfully. In order to expedite the process, please provide the following as soon as possible:

  • A copy of the death certificate
  • A copy of the will
  • A copy of the document naming you executor, if separate from the will
  • A statutory sworn declaration that the total value of the estate is less than $25,000. If the estate's assets exceed $25,000, we require grant of probate regarding the will.

Once this email has been received by addy, we will begin the process. Note however that the above mentioned documentation only represents a starting point and that we reserve the right to require further documentation depending on the circumstances.

What can I expect after providing this information?

addy will review the information provided and advise you of any additional needs or requirements. Once all the documentation has been processed and any questions satisfied:

  • in case the deceased addy member is the owner of securities, you as executor will legally and independently of any registration as security holder, have all the the rights, privileges and obligations as the deceased shareholder used to hold; and
  • any wallet balances will be made payable to the deceased's estate; and
  • you as executor or as person you acting in such capacity designate, is entitled to become a registered security holder in case further documentation is provided (notably a declaration of transmission).

You (or the person you may designate under the last point above) may be required to create a free account with addy for this process and in order to administer the deceased's assets with addy.

Are there any fees associated with this?

addy reserves the right to charge an administration fee of up to $250, depending on what is involved in and needed to complete this process. This charge will be deducted from the estate's assets.
