What are the categories for classifying a distribution?
When issuing a distribution, you need to classify the type of distribution that is being sent. This is used to populate T5 and T5013 slips.
Overview
Distribution classifications categorize the distributions sent to investors. These classifications are displayed in each investor’s distribution breakdown, allowing them to see the composition of their distribution. These fields will also be used to automatically in the generation for T5 / T5013 Tax slips.
Available Classification Categories
There are six distribution categories:
- Rental Income
- Business Income
- Capital Gains
- Return of Capital
- Interest
- Other – This category is only used if the distribution will be classified at the end of the year. It is rarely utilized.
Reclassifying a Distribution
If you need to reclassify a distribution, please contact support@addyinvest.com. Include the following details in your request:
- Date(s) of the distribution
- Amount(s) involved
- Current classification
- New classification requested
